(SPOILER) Resurrection devices only exist in real life. A slightly different take on the film including my favourite line " captain Mal (Nathan Fillion, a Han Solo with Dudley Do-Right’s mug)". There is also talk of a plot line I've somehow missed despite seeing it 4 times already!

One of the most supercilious reviews yet, and still somewhat favorable.

I have a strong hunch I'd find this guy tough to take.

But the Harry Lime/Holly Martins bit is pretty good, so I'll just hush and go away.

I have a strong hunch I'd find this guy tough to take.

I was just thinking that.... Not a bad piece, but this guy is very taken by his own style and there are definitely some odd if not dubious conclusions and connections being made here. (River is now a 'Goth chick'??)

Still Chris in Virginia it could be worse. I saw one or two other reviews that I didn't bother posting where they mentioned some REALLY funny stuff:
-They describe River as "more machine than monster" (Wuh?)

-They refer to Simon and River's relationship as 'incestuous',

-They state that 'obviously' River is Mal's 'superego' and the Reavers are clearly 'Mal's Id'. (Not Joss's mind you, Mal's.)

-Fans of Firefly are a 'slavering fanboy audience'.

-Mal is called Mal obviously to recall the bible's 'Malachai' the messenger. (Or, ya know, just short for 'Malcom'.)

-And my absolute favorite: how they described Mal as a 'former Alliance soldier'.

That one really cracked me up. And these were actually overall favorable reviews.

Wow, EdDantes...you have a castiron stomach, for certain!

A bit of a strange review, but I have to admit I laughed out loud at "weapons grade zoloft" such a cool explanation of the stuff...

Actually, I kind of liked the review. I didn't really see much worthy of picking apart.

Well, we are fanboys...

Actually, one of my daughters described River as "the goth-girl" earlier today. (My twins and I were discussing how to describe each character. Zoe was the warrior woman/tomboy; Kaylee was the sweet, bubbly girly-girl; Inara was the fancy woman, etc. )

Goth chick? ... Must be the boots ...

Hehe, nah, overall they were indeed positive so that made them palatable. Just....;-)

And technically not entirely wrong, but I do find it a bit odd he basically betrays such a major plot point in a review. I'd have been kinda mand if I'd read that before seeing it.

True (although it's kinda sexist. plenty of fan girls around too;-) but it was more the 'slavering' aspect I found a bit much. Couldn't he have just said 'devoted' or something?

Goth chick? ... Must be the boots ...

Don't forget the black lipstick and egyptian-style eyeliner and her poems about vampires....uh wait...

What plot line did the reviewer talk about that Lioness missed? I rtfa twice and can only think she means the "rhymed threats" of the reavers and "believers"(the Alliance).

I can see someone who just glances at the movie thinking of River as a goth...her pose and outfit in the robbery sequence where she points at the "hero" kind of makes her look like Morticia Adams...something I had noted to myself before, heh.
