Maybe wait to see if they release a Complete Angel, then splurge. This is gonna hurt the bank account...

I would buy that and I still have all the episodes.

You'll find it here at play, looks like Amazon have sold out. Great price too, makes it so that even if you've got a few of the seasons, it's not asking much more than you'd pay for the missing ones seperately.

So if you ever want to see the pilot episode or the "Lucy Hanover" trailer get an official release - you'll probably have to wait for HD-DVD.

The unaired pilot can be found on buffy.nu and on various torrent-sites.

This makes me want to read the Buffy books and comics too, just to see what this Lucy is like.

Rewatching it this past summer and now on DVD reminded just how good it was overall. Spike's death always makes me cry but I love how it was done and love how Joss wrote and directed that scene.
The same thing happened when I rewatched season 4. I was one fan who always enjoyed season 4 and liked Riley but I had forgotten how entertaining and fun it was. This seems to be the consensus of a lot of fans.

Count me as one who has gained a whole new appreciation for Season 7 after getting the DVDs. I think it's a dynamite piece of work, overall.

I think it actually just gave me an even deeper appreciation of the show in general. Just seeing how far these characters have come, since Welcome to the Hellmouth.
Gonna start re-watching the whole series (one or two episodes a day) starting tomorrow.

When it was on a weekly basis it felty a bit repetitive, in succesion it feels like one long story.

I absolutely LOATHE Rona, as far as i am concerned she died on the bus from blood loss after they escape Sunnydale.
Every damn word out of her mouth was some kind of complaint. She was constantly whining about everything, which i think made me like Kennedy a little more sometimes because Kennedy didn't freak out every 2 seconds. In "Showtime" when Buffy hands Rona a sword and Rona complains "What's the point?", or later when Buffy asks Willow to do magic and Willow says she'll try and Rona says "Try?" to Willow, i just wanted to gut that little bitch right there. I just hated that she thought that she had the right to talk to Willow like that. Or these lovely lines from "Showtime" "You call this a safelocation?", "That's the plan? Spread out? That thing is gonna kill Buffy, and then it's gonna come after us.", then Rona was tolerable in "Potential", then a fabulous 2 episodes of none of her, then she was back in "Get it Done" where she had about one line which was quite nice, the same for "Storyteller", i will get back to "Lies My Parents Told Me" in a sec, but then in "Dirty Girls" right after the Godzilla thing, she feels the need to say "You people are even crazier than her", then "I came here for protection" as if she is some kind VIP that shouldn't have to raise a finger on her own, and then "Buffy doesn't care how many of us she puts into danger". Rona then continues in "Empty Places" at the end when she says "You know what? I am sick of your deal with this Spike guy" and then "You're being reckless", then the little bitch has the nerve to say "Ding dong the witch is dead", if only Dawn had slapped her as well as telling her to shut her mouth. Thankfully we were spared Rona for 2 more eps and she returned in "Chosen" only to have one line and then she dies (she does die!). The thing she says in LMPTM is the one that makes me hate her the most "How can Buffy take this for granted? I mean, he (Spike) lives in OUR house, we train with him" She considers herself an OUR, she thinks that Buffy's house is now somehow hers. All of those potentials are NOT an our, they are guests in Buffy's house and the fact that Rona considers Buffy's house hers as well in some way makes me want to kill her. It is Buffy, Dawn, and Willow's house as they LIVE there. Spike and Giles could say "our" as they live there as well. Xander and Anya do have their own places but they are part of the Gang, and the Gang is above everyone else. I love Andrew but at that point he was not close enough to include himself in an "our" statement.
I know that i have gone on and on about this but i HATE Rona sooooooooo very much and i am so happy that she is dead.
Let me just say, once again, that i LOVE S7. I wanted to put that in just to make clear that i do not hate S7 in any way, i just hate hate that unappreciative, bithcy, useless disgusting human being.
Dhoffryn | November 22, 04:44 CET
LOL, no really, I agree with you, but on a much quieter level. Rona WAS a complainy little irritant. And I did want to smack her when she said "ding, dong..." about B.
Do you feel better? ;)
Willowy | November 22, 04:59 CET
I do not think that there is a character on BtVS or Angel that i hate more. I don't like a few characters, i cannot stand some more, but Rona is #1.

As to the topic, i am kind of glad that there aren't any different special features in this because that would be an awful lot of money. Something that i think would be cool would be a DVD release of all the deleted scenes. They talk about so many deleted scenes in the commentaries and they haven't put any on the sets.
Dhoffryn | November 22, 06:07 CET
- All 7 Seasons digitally re-done, in hi-def (especially S1 and I really notcied a lot of grain in S7)
- The movie, with a (very funny, I'm sure) commentary from Joss, talking about all of the bad stuff
- The un-aired pilot
- DELETED SCENES. My god it would be so nice to see some fresh Buffy.
- The trailers from the WB and UPN (including the Lucy Hanover one)
- All of the special features from the original sets.
- Some new special features. Something I would've loved to have seen on one of the previous sets in the dissection of an episode. Starting with Joss' mind all the way to airing. We came close to this with Fury's OMWF feature but I think there was a lot more to be explored. Obviously unless something like this was taped it would be impossible, but I can dream.
- The Legacy of the Slayer - A featurette on the history of the Slayer, talking about old slayers, future slayers, and just the basic mythology.
- New commentaries, especially for S1. I would love new commentaries on episodes that didn't get them, but deserved them.
There's "Prophecy Girl", "Lie to Me", "Becoming", "Passion", "IOHEFY", "Graduation Day"
- OK this is really stretching... You know those interviews from the VHS tapes they had for about six episodes each from S1-3. I would really like to have those for all of the seasons, all of the episodes. What did Joss think of an episode. What did he really like? What did he really not like?
- And two supplemental gifts...
-Mr. Pointy replica
-A big-ass Watcher's Guide.
I can only imagine how much that would cost - I would buy it in a heartbeat. I'm porbably not going to buy this set. That is, of course, unless they announce some earth-shattering feature.
Don't get me wrong, my Buffy DVDs, along with my iPod, are the favourite things I own. But, I would love to see Buffy get the amazing treatment it really deserves.
Knuckleball | November 22, 07:21 CET
"The Gift" doesn't have one either. Damn, they better release the Adam version of "Buffy - The Complete Series)
Knuckleball | November 22, 07:23 CET
But, to save myself some money, I'm glad these are just the already released sets put together in one big set so I won't be tempted to go out and buy everything all over again.

Suddenly it doesn't seem so bad that Region 1 sets got one more commentary (though an apparently good one) than region 2.
Ghost Spike | November 22, 17:34 CET
I figured out where the easter egg was. If anyone else doesn't know, it's on disk 6, under special features and then "featurettes." Press the left arrow from the "season overview" and a "B" lights up. That's where the Gift montage is.
Good to finally see it! I went through it frame by frame after i saw it the first time to see how many episodes I could recognize.
As for the complete Buffy Series – i still wonder who all will buy it, other than people who are just discovering the series. Most people who would want to own it are pretty dedicated fans, and most of them already own the separate sets. Adam_tvs, i like your idea for the extras that *should* be on there. Too bad they aren't, but i guess it also saves me from having to think about buying this...
acp | November 22, 18:09 CET
I also wish the "Previously on Buffy..." were included in the sets.

Yeah, I'd love to see all of the previouslies, the unaired pilot ... throw in the A&E Biography I heard about. Pretty much everything. But I am a drooling fanboy.
Ocular | November 22, 18:53 CET
But this re-release of all seven seasons has just been the catalyst I needed to buy a player and the seven-season set too.

Secondly, Adam_tvs, I want that set that you described! I will die a happy woman if that comes out before I die. But mostly, I want more commentaries, multiple commentaries for the episodes would be nice, with the CAST too! All of them! And interveiws with the actors. And behind the scenes funnyness and seriousness. I need new Buffy images.
I managed to convince myself that Karen or whatever her name was in The Grudge was actually Buffy Summers, sent to Japan in disguise, because I desperatly need some sort of season 8. It sort of worked. I'm sad (interpret that either way).

Wouldn't it be cool if some fans could be selected to do commentary on Buffy? Another thing I'd love is for every single episode to have commentary. No Joss commentary on The Gift? That was probably the biggest surprise for me when that set was released. I expected that one. I would like more actors doing commentary on their character's pivotal episodes, like Nick Brendon on "The Replacement", along with the writer and director, or Amber Benson and Joss on "Family", just to name a couple of examples.
And everything that adam_tvs mentioned would be cool, especially The Legacy of the Slayer featurette. I love the slayer mythology.
We probably won't see any of this, but it's fun to dream.
electricspacegirl | November 22, 22:41 CET
I doubt that 20th Century will ever go back and do more commentaries for Buffy now, but it is always nice to dream... The Gift, Prophecy Girl, and Becoming are eps particularly in need of commentary. Passion, too. And i would love to see fans and actors do them (although, to be honest, i think the writers usually do the best commentaries. And to be really honest, there are few commentaries that don't eventually bore me that weren't done by Joss. But i loved having Seth and Alexis contribute to the ones they did).
acp | November 22, 22:52 CET
I purchase these sets and listen to the commentaries for insight, from an acting, directing or writing standpoint. The fans can't really tell me anything I don't already know, and I can listen to some free gushing online if I ever need to.
rabid | November 22, 23:34 CET
I will most definitely buy the Region 1 version if it is anything like the R2 one. If this is just the 7 seasons all for sale at the same time, then no thank you, but if it is a nice, leather bound, actual collector's edition then i am so going to get it. The R2 one has a lot of pics of just Buffy, and not many other characters (like the season sets over there) but the R1 ones have various pics of all the characters and if they go this route then WOO HOO.
I am all excited for a BtVS DVD release, only a week ago i though that would never happen again!
Dhoffryn | November 23, 00:10 CET
On the other hand, it is so much easier to go way overboard on an 18 episode package than on a 255 episode package. You'd probably go nutty trying to put together the definitive 12 season "Wacky Adventures of Buffy & Angel" collectors DVD:)
