Buffy the Vampire Slayer gets nominated for a Teen Choice Award. It got nominated in the Choice Throwback TV Show category. Agents of SHIELD got a couple of nominations too.

First of all, I wouldn't call myself an expert on the TCAs, but I do occasionally browse trough award lists, because I like to see cool things (= things, I like) getting appreciated. Secondly, I have never before heard of this category and some rudimenary checking didn't come up with anything, either. I therefore wouldn't be surprised at all, if this category had been created especially due to the buzz surrounding BtVS' 20th anniversary.

Other than that I am quite amused by the nominees of "TV Drama Actress" and cannot comprehend why you would nominate Fallon over Kimmel. But since Ellen needs to win anyway, it probably doesn't really matter.

I don't understand why the majority of these nominations are what they are (or the idea that the person who gave the most notable/only notable performance in season 4 of Agents of SHIELD was Gabriel Luna... he was good as Robbie, but no), but then I'm not a teen, and what do I know about what US teens are into. I haven't even heard of some of the Drama and Comedy nominees, and I was a bit surprised not to see The Good Place (the only TV comedy I've watched recently) nominated. I guess it's not teenagey enough?

I dare any teen to actually know what "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" was and can name three cast members. If teens can do that, I feel much better about its chances.
Otherwise, Vampire Diaries could win by mistake.

Oh, and Jimmy Fallon gets more love from teens than Kimmel because Fallon's often mistaken for Harry Styles.

Wow that two phrases I didn't expect to see together again, "BtVS" and "Teen Choice Awards".

This all ties into my theory that we live in a giant simulation and the RAM is going bad.

I think I don't want to live in a world with lists like this, anymore!

So, let's see...

Buffy the Vampire Slayer... genre-bending teen meta-dramedy

Veronica Mars... teen noir dramedy

Fresh Prince of Bel Air & Sister-Sister... teen sitcoms

One Tree Hill & The O.C.... treen dramas

I'm not sure how shows can compete against one another if they aren't even in the same genre. As my friend would say, "it's not even apples and oranges... it's apples and pizza."

@impalergeneral my 15 year old son has been binge watching Buffy (currently halfway through season 5). So there is hope for the world.

@impalergeneral, my daughter Willow can sing all the songs in OMWF, prefers Tara over Oz, and thinks Anya's bunny phobia is hilarious. Her favorite character is Giles.

As mnspnr says, there is hope.
