I was a smidgen surprised they didn't get to cross-promote for their other shows. that CSI Miami gag easily could have been an excuse for Nathan to try to ensure his show goes on for awhile. (...Unless he wants to be free for a Dr Horrible continuation...)

I didn't get the chance to watch this in context though, was this actually dropped in the middle of a different sequence?

EPIC. I saw pretty much everyone I wanted to win lose, with the exception of the Daily Show and Kristen Chenowith. Seriously, Dexter needs to be winning some awards. That shows too well written and acted to not be getting some awards. I'm sick of the Emmy's obsession with 30 Rock and Mad Men.

But NPH hosting, and especially the Dr. Horrible sequence; brilliant!

The "best seat in the house" joke never worked for me, the Kanye West jokes got old the morning after the VMAs, and few of the shows I like won. But this was far and away the most entertaining Emmys I've seen in years and they brought it in only 3 minutes over. Nicely played, NPH. Nicely played.

CarpeNoctem: As far as the Emmys' obsession with "Mad Men" and "30 Rock," I think "Mad Men" actually was the best show of last year, so I'm really glad about it. I mean, I like "Dexter" and all, but "Mad Men" was just devastating this year. And I like "30 Rock" better than just about any comedy show currently on (though I am more emotionally involved in "The Office").

I was a little irritated that the skit took shots at internet broadcasting, since Dr. Horrible is one example of it being successful. (Although the shots at "buffering" and screen size were dated. Have any of them been to Hulu?)

If you have several dozen tabs open as...I might? Then yeah, you do see the buffering thingie pop up from time to time. And some people still claim to use 56k but I have my doubts.

In hindsight I'm starting to wonder if maybe they had the time to shoot more than one of these in the event they hadn't won. Even if people suspect the award was created for their sake in the first place.

It depends on your connection, I've been traveling and depending on wifi, and I've been dealing with 'buffering' a lot. But I don't think the success of 'Dr. Horrible' was lost on anyone in that room: complete creative freedom is rare on network television, but readily available online.

I have 8mbit broadband, live in the UK, and the first time I watched Horrible (officially, via Hulu) it buffered constantly.

I enjoyed the Emmys this year. I was going to turn to Mad Men at 10, but instead stayed up to watch the second viewing.

Sidenote, wonder who were involved in the writing of this bit. Were all the 4 writers involved or just a handful of them? Did the Emmy writers get some say in it?

That was made of win. The mind still boggles that they actually got to do this on the Emmy show. Must've been Neil that pushed it through when in negotiations or some such.

Was also really impressed with the NPH 'put down the remote' opening, especially the part where he goes through all the network options in quick succession: yikes. He must've been practicing that for quite some time.

Anyway: these were some nice things to watch when on lunch break (while working at home) :). Here's hoping even more Dr. Horrible finds its way to us soon.

I was just watching NPH's stunning musical intro again and noticed that it starts, "Put down the remote, cause the song what I wrote...". Do you think using "what" rather than "that" is a nod to Morecambe and Wise's "the play what I wrote" catchphrase? Pretty great if it is. I wonder if NPH is a fan.

Probably wasn't done because Castle is on ABC. They can reference CBS shows with no problem (hence NPH plugging HIMYM at one point), but I imagine CBS would have frowned upon any promotion of another network's show.

NPH was fantastic last night, though...one of the bet Emmy ceremonies in a while.

Wow. Fail, Australian TV Networks, FAIL. Apparently, Network 10 are on the side of Captain Hammer. Dr Horrible's Interceptorizer takeover of the Emmy feed was cut out of the Australian broadcast. Boooooo!

The only reason I watched the Emmys in the first place was because of NPH. Needless to say I scared my entire family with my high pitched shout of joy when I saw Dr.Horrible. It was awesome!

I'm amazed they got this on the air. A large portion of the viewers have probably never seen Dr. Horrible before. And while they seem to make more fun of the internet on the surface, even the "hero" says that TV is doomed to be replaced by the internet. Of course Captain Hammer is to dumb to realize that he said it.

Hmm, Dr. Horrible just won an Emmy and now there is new material. Seems like the perfect time to release a Blu-ray version.

30 Rock is very good but The Office is far better - it doesn't have the flash of the winning show, but in addition to being hilarious it's a complex and emotionally rich show.

Mad Men is about as good as The Sopranos; it makes other TV look sloppy and juvenile.
