That is pretty cheap. Sounds like most of the same extras too (although this one seems to have a Josh Whedon commentary - Joe Sweden must've been too busy).

If I was in any way capable of waiting an extra two months to see 'Epitaph One' then I would. But i'm not, so I won't.

Upon checking it would appear "we" did, way back in May. It's news to me but I guess that may well not stop the thread from shuffling off this mortal weblog (this post has the extras listed though so might be worth keeping ?).


ETA: It's also a different release date (one week earlier, yay) so it has my mod-less vote.

Hmm.. that's so cheap, it almost makes me cancel my Region 1 order, even if I would have to wait longer, if I weren't ordering other stuff with it (namely Middleman).

So... are these, in fact, the same features? I know I can watch R1 discs, but it'd be worth the extra wait if I could bring them along and watch them on my girlfriend's non-region free player. But if this release is missing extra's, when compared to the R1-release, I'll just stick to my current pre-order.

It doesn't say anything on there about Epitaph One being in the special features. Is that because they're treating it as an episode or are the UK fans not getting it in their sets? It does mention the unaired pilot…

Maybe they aren't calling it a "special feature" because Epitaph One is airing on UK TV?

Yeah I noticed that as well! That's a lot of deleted scenes. The other stuff sounds pretty impressive as well. As far as DVD extras go, Dollhouse hasn't done too bad at all.

15 quid is a pretty good bargain for a 13 episode DVD boxset. BBC I'm looking at you.

That's how I first got into Buffy. I borrowed a friend's sets after I saw the first two episodes when they were repeated on 5. Then started buying them on eBay until we bought the Chosen collection. Seven seasons of Buffy on DVD took up less shelf space than half of one season on VHS.

The VHS sets were awesome. I had all of the VHS boxsets but eventually went out and bought the Chosen Collection. It was a bonus for me because I hadn't seen all the special features and it's amazing how clear everything looks when you see it on DVD.

Oh I loved the half-season VHS sets, I still have all of them somewhere. In retrospect I cringe at the amount of money they cost but I can still remember how excited I was whenever they came out.

Deleted scenes were announced for the R1 DVD as well. I think it is very likely that R1 and R2 will be identical.

*subtly glances over to his display cabinet where I've displayed the antique S1 to 3 on official VHS. Yeah, I remember them :). I think Buffy is probably the only show I own both on VHS and DVD. No wait: that's not right. I own SG-1's first few seasons on VHS and then a couple on DVD, but back then I needed to buy the episodes to actually get to watch 'em.



Yeah, I've been meaning to buy new Who on DVD for ages now, but the prices are outrageous and I won't buy as long as the series are rediculously overpriced when compared to US series. Having said that: the Dollhouse set is remarkably cheap in R2.

The price of Who DVDs is especially galling to Brits because we've already paid for the show once through the licence fee, much as I love it there's just no way i'm paying the BBC prices (especially given that it's seemingly repeated on a damn near constant loop). It'd probably be a nightmare to arrange (abd there's the "grey export" issue) but i've long thought that BBC series should be deeply discounted to UKers on a "one set per TV licence" arrangement - we've paid for the show so really we should only be charged for the manufacturing and distribution costs (and maybe a nominal amount for any DVD only extras).

But £15 is actually (allowing for exchange rates etc.) cheaper than the US set, which is almost never the case over here, not for brand new releases anyway.
