Buffyverse Presidential Cabinet.
With the real U.S. election 1 day away, they took the idea of "Giles for President" and created a full Presidential Cabinet out of Buffy and Angel characters.
Yeah, they can't really be Pres and VP but I'm sure Willow can actually handle that situation, heh. Gunn for Attorney General is good or Lilah/Lindsey. Evil, sure...but hot.
I dunno, a vamp secret service agent could be pretty handy. They could just keep on taking those bullets for you indefinitely. As long as the only assassination attempts are at night. Also, can we say Oval Office romance?
Anyway, I had a go at matching up all of the positions.
President: Giles
Vice President: Wesley
Secretary of State: Angel
Secretary of the Treasury: Anya
Secretary of Defense: Buffy
Attorney General: Gunn
Secretary of the Interior: Oz
Secretary of Agriculture: Dawn
Secretary of Commerce: Lorne
Secretary of Labor: Doyle
Secretary of Health and Human Services: Tara
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development: Xander
Secretary of Transportation: Cordelia
Secretary of Energy: Fred
Secretary of Education: Willow
Secretary of Veterans Affairs: Riley
Secretary of Homeland Security: Kate
Chief of Staff: Wood
Director of the Secret Service: Connor
Director of the CIA: Spike
Director of the FBI: Faith
I was a little wary putting Spike in charge of anything with "Intelligence" in its title, but his international experience gets him that one. And Dawn didn't really fit anywhere, but her food experimentations came to mind. Everyone else more or less fits, as long as we're disregarding the natural-born citizen issue.
They'd probably end up with food poisoning. Some things just shouldn't be mixed. Best we leave her to be her own food tester instead of cooking for our political leaders. ^_^
Snyder for Homeland Security?
I can see it now:
No pathetic whining about rights to privacy. Just a long row of houses/cellphones/IPs and a man with a key.
Yeah, Snyder in the Cabinet was one of the main reasons I came up with my list. Love the guy in an "I sit back and laugh at his antics, but never want to meet him in person EVER" kind of way, but I'm not even entertaining a fanciful scenario of him in a position of actual power.
I don't think it's worth pointing out that Giles and Wesley can't run because they're foreign-born, since seven of these characters are already some form of dead.

Well, we've just been through eight years of devastating rule by the evil living (not even certain of that, in Cheney's case), how much more damage could possibly be done by the evil/no longer evil/only sometimes evil, dead?.
Besides, technically the Constitution only requires that one be a citizen, at least 35 years old, and an inhabitant of the country for at least 14 years. (I guess "inhabitant" could require being alive, but if not, then the dead can rule.)
The Constitution requires that the President be a natural-born citizen (or someone who was a citizen at the time of the constitution's ratification); i.e., a contemporary candidate cannot be born on foreign soil. Hence all the rigamarole about Obama's birth certificate and the lesser rigamarole about McCain's birth in the Panama Canal Zone.
Edit: Actually, upon further review, the "no foreign soil" requirement is ambiguous; but one of your parents must have been a citizen, or you had to be born on U.S. administered territory.
Having just re-read the S8 - No Future For You arc, I have to go with an election between Buffy and Faith, when Buffy wins the election Giles is appointed Ambassador to the UK and Faith heads up a blue ribbon panel on prison reform.
President : Buffy
Chief of Staff : Willow
Vice President : Andrew
Secretary of Defense : Eyepatch Xander
Secretary of State: Illyria
Secretary of the Treasury: Anya
Attorney General: Lilah Morgan, Set a thief to catch a thief.
Secretary of Homeland security : Gunn
Co-heads of the new Bureau of Vampire relations : Angel & Spike.
I just thought it was amusing that people were pointing out that the Brits couldn't run, yet didn't mind dead folk. I myself would count 'em both for the purpose of this fun little faux-cabinet. I was just havin' some fun.
UnpluggedCrazy, the Brits couldn't run for President (and possibly Vice-Prez, can't look that up right now,) but the other openings are, as far as I know, fair game. As far as the dead, well, there's at least one case (which I'll look up references for if I ever get time) of a deceased candidate winning an election. Of course, I don't recall him actually serving afterwards (snicker...)
ETA: Not a national election, though, a local one.
Oh, I was just correcting the count from the previous comment. Maybe, as the positive portrayals of Undead-Americans in media continue to increase, maybe they'll find that their time in the White House will come, too. =)

I think we can let that slide considering these are fictional characters. I'm sure you wouldn't see a vampire in the Secret Service either.

Say, why ISN'T Gunn Attorney General?
I nominate Doyle for Secretary of Labor. Tres ironic.
No Riley anywhere? Not even as a Secret Service agent? Boo.
Lorne as head of the Party Planning Committee! (I know, I'm reaching...)

2SpuffyOrNot2Spuffy:As to Lindsey or Lilah, in what sense has "evil" ever been a drawback for an Attorney General?
