I can't imagine a bad season of Firefly... of course i argue with people that all of the Buffy seasons were amazing and I have been told that I am a hopeless delusional mess, and if Joss were to film dental surgery and air it on the Weather Channel, my Tivo would be full of teeth... But great fantasy! I liked the Eye-patched Mal picture. Every final season of a show should include a major character losing an eye. =P

I think buffy lost a lot of it's 'thing' after the end of the third season, yet I still can't admit that there's a bad season of buff.

Thta review isn't from an alternate universe....it's from a whole different galaxy, and I wish I was there. Imagine, a world where TV programming decisions are made intelligently. I'm sure in that world We don't have to worry about "Pushig Daisies" or "Sarah Connor Chronicles" getting cancelled, whoever runs "Heroes" makes sure the storyline make sense, and we don't have pointless reality shows like "The Hills."

Not bad, i'm surprised the author didn't mention Spike's cameo. Jump-the-Shark moment for some, sublime for others. Personally I liked it but the "all-fruit" episode is where it started to lose me. Joss only just brought it back with the following week's "whipped cream" episode (or maybe that bore the mark of Cain ?).

In my opinion, the saving grace for the seventh season opener had to be Nicholas Brendon's role as Mal's brother. Who'd have thought he could play evil so convincingly? And since when was he in such good shape?

To be fair it was a James Marsters cameo, not a Spike cameo. Joss has said in interviews that he would not cross vamps into the Firefly verse.

In real life, yep. But the article isn't in real life, it could even be said to be in a more "decadent" version ;).

Could Serenity take place in the same universe as Buffy but the monsters were taken care of long ago? I think you could make an argument for it, but I wouldn�t. The only thing we ever thought of doing is having a drunken and very miserable Spike at a bar just sitting there going, �Nothing changes. Trust me, nothing changes.� That would�ve been in our decadent era. That would have been like season six. But no, I have to think about them as totally separate because they have different sensibilities and they have different sets of rules. It�s very important that Serenity be grounded. I had to go into outer space to come back down to earth but Buffy was a fantasy, a metaphor for rites of passage of our lives and Serenity is something else.

I think we're being unfair to season 3. It would have been a much stronger arc if the first two episodes hadn't been aired on the cusp of the show's fourth season.

this is really depressing, cause the show wasn't able to maintain its quality for 7 years, and even Whedon jumped ship.

Whedon is always at the helm when a show ends. He needs the opportunity to kill some beloved folk, right?

I actually always assumed that the season three and four hate was entirely from the shippers; I always thought the plot worked wonderfully. Anyway, I never had a problem with Kaylee/Badger, but obviously the Kayne shippers never quite got over that (to say nothing of the crazy Simon/Kaylees who think she should have stayed loyal to a dead man forever, especially when Mal and River never told her that he was their double agent in the New Alliance).

Man, I have had it with these haters. Everybody bitches about S6, but damn it, the episode where Zoe masqueraded as a geese-juggling circus clown so Mal could infiltrate the Alliance Big Top was one of the most harrowing pieces of drama I've ever seen!

Personally, if this season has a moment even half as powerful as that, I'll consider it a success.

Yeah but the whole "Serenity addicted to rocket fuel" metaphor was just too obvious. And showing us that her refueling point was on the prow of the ship felt like it was taking the piss - "It's on the nose, OK Joss, we get it !". I did like the space-tigers though.

I stopped watching way back in season 3 during the shark-jumpy Reaver!Kaylee arc. Jonathan Woodward's 5th death scene was just too much to swallow.

Guys ... I heard a rumor that Joss is actually going to be doing season eight of Firefly ... but in the pages of Dark Horse's Firefly comic book! (Not the Young Mal comic, or the Tales of the Independents' War, or even that horrible teen-bait atrocity Kaylee Loves Simon with the little overcute chibi stuff ... although that last one goes without saying.)

Supposedly he wanted to do this with Buffy, making a Season 11, but there wasn't enough popular appeal. I may be banned for saying this, but he really needed to wind up the show with Season 7. It would've just been a lot cleaner of a cut. Although I did like Oz's return to the show.
