Am I the only person here who is not excited by a cartoonesque Buffy? What I really like about the comics is the beautiful realistic artwork of, say, Georges Jeanty, and now, well, cartoons. Don't me wrong, I couldn't draw my way out of a paper bag and am under no illusion that one style is "easier" or even "more primitive" than the other. I'm in awe of any artist. It is just, uh, I don't like cartoons. How about, maybe, an episode in oil instead?

Because in this case it actually fits the theme of the issue, as described in the article.

It parallels what you say about the art style, in fact: On the surface, it might seem simpler, but turns out not necessarily to be -- just like what Buffy discovers when she gets to go home again.

One more time I am quite sad to see that the summary of the article is "He tells Comic Book Resources all about the themes of this very special issue" when it seems to me that it should be "He tells Comic Book Resources all about the themes of this very special issue and his hope of a resurrection of the animated series", as Jeph Loeb's interview is not only about the issue but also the fact he hopes the issue will help the reanimation of Buffy.
It would be nice if the summary told this, even if I know Simon is not really fond of the campaign for the animated series.

I am very curious as to how they're going to explain Dawn being there (I remember reading she was supposed to be part of the cartoon series, and I assume that's her on the lower portion of the variant cover). I have no guesses as to the How or Why.

That said, I like the visual style, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it meshes with the rest of the series.

I'm not looking forward to this on account of Jeph Loeb butchering Ultimates. He didn't just kill that comic, no he butchered it with fury. Oh, the fury!
