Firefly and Western Literature. Firefly panel at the Western Literature Association meeting.

Looks as though my academic friends have stumbled upon the beauty that is Firefly. Wading through the lengthy WLA program here: http://www.usu.edu/westlit/pdffiles/WLA08%20Program2.pdf I discovered a Friday morning session on Firefly.

Neat cross-genre observations of "Heart of Gold" down the jump page a bit.

Not surprised as Joss even talks in the Serenity commentary (the solo one) about how he talked to a former professor of his about Westerns, and how "The Killer Angels" (a book about part of the Civil War) was one of his main inspirations for Firefly.
