That is pretty damn ducky. Love Nathan, love mystery novels and the writers who write them. All I ask is that the writing be decent on this, and then we've got a real shot.
Whoa! They're bringing back Cupid? That's awesome! That show was amazing! Let's hope it does so well that the Fox Network gives Firefly Season 2 some serious thought.
Cool about Castle. :-) But I'm a little squeamish about the New & Improved Cupid. The original with Jeremy Piven and Paula Marshall was as good as or better than anything on TV now, so I've never been sure on what the point of remaking it was. Other than editing out a couple of shots with 1990s-era mobile phones (think BIG), you could probably re-run the original ones now and no one would know the difference.
Excellent news, I always liked 'Murder She Wrote'!! ;)
I think it's a little different than that. For one thing, the cops want a mystery writer to help them, rather than some elderly English teacher from Maine deciding to help out. Still, it would be a nice touch for the show if Nathan's character was a former teacher who became a novelist.
Yeah, Polter-Cow, I think you're thinking of this guy. Pretty sure I saw him in Something... Or possibly Something Else. I never could keep track of all the spin-offs.
Keeping Castle grounded are his mother [Susan Sullivan], teenage daughter Alexis [Molly C. Quinn], poker playing friends James Patterson, Sue Grafton, and Stephen King and his ex wife Gina [Monet Mazur] who is also his editor.
That's not the Stephen King they're referring to, is it? If it is, that would be worth watching for in and of itself.

Oh, sorry about that, Rosalind, but you may be on to something. It would still be cool if the writer was a former teacher, since Nathan has a lot of respect for teachers. Still, with the rest of the cast that BrewBunny mentioned, it still makes an interestng lineup.
I've played a demo of that, Fanatic. My brother did mention that the main character looked just like Nathan Fillion; he thought he did the voice, but he was wrong.
Sorry to correct you, Polter-Cow, but he was actually in That Other Show.
Wait wait wait. Are you sure? Because I faintly recall that he was in some show that featured two male characters, one female character, and a food-serving establishment.
Nathan as a writer? Hrrrm. Not that he didn't play Mal's high but subtle intelligence very well... but does this role involve action as well? Man's very good at drama mixed with some punches and some getting punched.
I like to see myself as a firm but friendly grandfathermin than a dadmin.
That just gives me a mental image of you watching Price Is Right and hulling peas when all's quiet here.

Polter-Cow, Do you mean that show with Charlie Sheen, or some other laugh-track sitcom? Because I thought Nathan was that one in That Other Other Show about rogue landscapers who carried on illegal cross-country extramarital affairs with desperate housewives. Or something like that.
I thought he was in that Other Other Other Show, where he drove a car So fast, that it only lasted four Episodes. Drove right off the set, in fact...
Seriously, this is great, even Shiny news! Yay Nathan! :)
Oh... btw. I noticed it's set in New York. Is Nathan moving to the East Coast, I wonder? I have an ulterior motive in asking: It seems that Alan Tudyk will be in Baltimore at the Farpoint Con in February. ;)
I suppose it's about time to create a "Castle" subcategory, eh? Eh?!
It's weird, but the uk.eonline.com link wouldn't work for me, but I think I found the same article here: http://tv.yahoo.com/news_print?id=urn:newsml:eonlinekristen.com:20080825:TV-77d9d09a0419799ba647448ec26700e3__ER:1
I'm excited for this, and the story really isn't that far off. Plenty of writers have participated in roundtable forums to discuss various ways certain events may happen. I think Brian Meltzer (remember, he's got that new book and Joss was in the trailer for it) participated in one as well. I looked at his official website, I think it was there.
Well, well. This is great news. I'll try to keep a good thought this goes more than one season b/c Nathan's had too many disappointments with series (though I've read he takes all these business dealings in the industry as par for the course). He deserves a long(er)(ish) run this time. As he punned in his review of Casino Royale once, Nathan's CastleAWEsome.
So is "in 2009" a standard mid-season show (so it'll appear sort of January to March-ish) or are they talking Autumn 2009 (so the '09-10 season) ?
I still think this one will be all about the chemistry between Nathan and his co-star female cop, if that works and the writing's there this could well be "the one" for him because it's new-ish but nothing too new as far as a mainstream audience goes. Sounds good, will check it out (and the author cameos could be great fun too).
Saje, I think they mean to air it starting in the January-April timeframe, but it is remotely possible it could be pushed to summer or fall. What I have heard is that the chemistry between Nathan and the female lead is smoking and that is the single biggest reason for the pick-up.
Ooh, that sounds good then, if they can get a sort of Nick and Nora Charles-ish thing going then that could be really great, NF can do that type of easy, flowing wit in his sleep IMO.
Wasn't the show Nathon was in called "3 Guys, Two Girls, one crazy Chick who liked the little 'Guy' and a restaurant we sold off after the second season because the execs wanted a new venue for main scenes and it was easier to say"?
I think Nathan's other show Might've actually been
"One Life to Live with Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place near a 193-foot long Firefly, next to a really Hot Dodge Charger which ran over a Desperate Housewife".
