Hm. Maybe elevator pitches are more of a business thing? I hear it a lot in the nonprofit world anyway. I think I heard it first in a political context though. You're on a elevator with a senator for two minutes, and they ask you what you do, and in response to your answer, they ask for your professional opinion on a very complex and important topic. You have two minutes to clearly communicate a very important idea to them.

I would like to see more of this kind of content, I would like to make, but even if I can�t I�d like to see more people sort of stepping up between the home-made and the studio-made and putting things on the Internet that are truly strange and personal and yet accessible to as many people as possible. Interesting comments. It used to be that movie studios made "B" pictures for drive-ins, and later to fulfill the need for DVD's. Now, YouTube could do for entertainment what American International Pictures did for drive-ins. Well, he may have a point. With the exception of "Repo", it's very unlikely any movie studio would want to make an original musical rather than something from Broadway. If the internet proves it can be done, and Joss becomes our new Steven Sondheim, then bring it on!

Sadly I had only 10 minutes - he was doing a series of these, one after another, and I was fortunate enough to get in there - and I had to write my article for the general public so I couldn't ask really specific questions for my own curiosity. Like "Which one of you is doing the Dr. Horrible twittering?", "Remember me from ME Day? Huh? Do ya?" and "Why do you write such strong female characters?" As it was I only got about half my questions in before I was given the heads up to ask my last one, but that was because he gave long and thoughtful answers, and no way would I give that up for quantity.

Wow, Z, I have to disagree on this one. Bring It On was just good, not "so bad it's good." It wasn't trying to be anything other than snarky, kinetic, slightly silly entertainment. And it succeeded hugely. It totally brings a smile to my face. (OTOH, never seen the sequels, and never want to.)

Whereas, say, Showgirls is fun when you're kicking back after the pub and just want a good laugh . . .

ETA: Oh, great interview, CAB, BTW! :-)

I was gonna say the sequels fell under 'so bad its good', but I couldn't remember the first one well enough to be sure (I haven't seen all of the sequels, but I am assured they are so bad they are good). Chris, that was awesome, thank you! Must have been thrilling for you to ask questions of the man himself. Always great to hear Joss talking about projects. Takes me back to when a bunch of us congregated here to listen to the live Fanboy Radio broadcast that I think was mostly (maybe I'm misremembering) about the advent of the Buffy S8 comic and for which folks here, along with the world, submitted questions in advance.
