Filming on Dollhouse pilot not quite a wrap.
The fan blog Dollrific! reports that some reshoots for the pilot are going on at the moment because "the show just got back notes from the network who asked (told?) that certain parts be redone".
I think a more measured response is probably in order kmb99. Like sending dollhouse sized scale models of the executives' actual houses hand-built from the bones of small animals, glued together with our own saliva and painted in blood. Or the Barbie thing, it's down to the individual.
Trees, sky, rabid squirrels, the whole bloody lot's coming down. Knew we should've put a lintel in.
(and then they dumped it altogether and he and Tim famously had to write 'The Train Job' over a weekend. If that happens here I wouldn't necessarily say the sky is falling but i'd definitely be watching it pretty closely ;)
Well I'm guessing that since the network already liked the script then it might have been the direction of a particular scene that the suits didn't like. Or their nine year old daughter didn't like it. I dunno. It'll probably end up on the DVD anyhow.

"Joss, some scenes would clearly play better if you had more money so here's another million, please reshoot what you want and if you need any more, just ask. We're here for you"
Good thing about Joss' shows is, there will be a DVD, no-matter what happens (cos they're not daft and we kinda are ;) so it'll all shake out eventually, even in the worst case scenario.
I think it was part of the "make Mal funnier" changes, yes. (Then again, my recollection of the early, early word that Joss was creating what became Firefly was that he was aiming to do more of a straight drama that happened to be set in a sci-fi world. Don't know when that idea, exactly, came off the table.)
...a fruitful collaboration between the network and Joss Whedon. This collaboration leads to a seven season run that garnered several Emmy Awards, including the stellar third season in which Dollhouse swept every single drama catagory. The spectacular duo Dollhouse and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles gave the Fox Network proved to be a dominating ratings juggernaut on Monday nights, winning the night for five consecutive seasons until Joss Whedon's groundbreaking television series Goners premiered in the fall of 2013 on ABC.
Thats just normal Network behaviour. Notes can be quite strange as far as I know ...like Echo´s underwear is pink but we want it red or something like that. Nothing to worry about.
Granted, I live in Scotland, so said boycott doesn't actually involve me doing anything, but still the symbolic power of my gesture will have the execs quaking in their (stylish yet affordable) boots, and so they will no longer talk to The Great Whedon other than in a suitable tone of grovelling reverence, communicating nothing but praise.
I'm choosing to be cautiously optimistic about this. Keeping in mind all we've heard (and heard, if we come here often enough ;) ) about the new regime at Fox, and the fact that Joss has had much praise for notes in some cases, as with Mary Parent's re:Serenity, this could be of the beneficial.
Well, obviously this means the Fox executives are evil and the pilot will be aired as the third episode and the show will be cancelled halfway through the opening credits in the pilot.
Well, every network gives notes. Even TheWB/UPN gave Joss notes for "Buffy" & "Angel". The only show that doesn't get any notes, as far as I know, is "The Simpsons". Sometimes it's only a piece of dialogue that network executives don't like, I remember Drew Goddard (is he spelled that way?) talking about a dialogue change in one audio commentary of season seven of "Buffy". Other times, they want a whole scene to be reshot to have a different vibe and feel to it. It could be anything. Sometimes they just want a scene to be reshot, because they want the scene to be more clear, so that dumb people get it too. I'm not worried.
The only thing that makes me uncomfortable about them reshooting stuff is the fact that they don't start post-production just yet, which means it will take some more time until it leaks. Here I was hoping that it would leak as soon as possible, but I suppose it will be another two months or so, IF IT EVEN HAPPENS!

Dude, please. The next tv series has gotta have a spaceship in it. It's only right. Goners will be a surprise summer blockbuster that redefines blockbusters as having actual plot and being awesome. Other than that you are completely right, and well done.
hacksaway - I assume that Cuddy would tell him that the hospital's lawyer would be coming by to discuss his gross negligence in not better securing his nose :)
Like people have said already, I wouldn't read too much into these reshoots. Let's give Fox a chance before we kick them to the curb over a pretty standard network practice :)

That's a new thought. We didn't... do anything... to the pencils did we? Like infect them with nerd enthusiasm? Are we contagious?

Or, we didn't screwup and hand them half a million red pencils, right?
*checks pencils points in photos*
Nope. 'Cause that just woulda been wrong.
