I wonder if they even have room for anybody else? I wouldn't mind the idea of Charisma, Mercedes, and Kristine showing uppitty-up-up-up. (Sorry, just being my annoying self. This is great news, but then, if you've followed some of her itnerviews, like in wasn't it MArie cLaire which headlined it "Gellar's Back - And She's even More Fab" -?- she has a great respect and affection for what she was able to do artistically as Buffy.
(But I really *should* get working on my screenplay idea; I want to see her and AMber in those footless catsuits.....)
Wow, this is really something special, although I agree with all of those who would like to see more of the writers on the panel. I wish I could go, but it is very expensive. I wonder if they do sell DVDs, I would pre-order mine!
I'd like to officially join in the muffled snickering about the "surprise, surprise" stuff.
They've really got to tape this. Or take minutes. Or something. Seriously, though, put this on tape and you could probably succeed in selling a DVD repackage just to get at it.
Maybe Joss and her will get to talking and we'll have another Joss Whedon tv show starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. She did say she was thinking about going back into television... :)
daylight: I'm having serious concerns in that regard. Like... they'd better set aside a good 5 hours for the Buffy panel. I want everyone to have the chance to speak, and I want there to be time for insightful questions and answers. As fantastic as it is that so many of the cast are going, at this rate there's only going to be time for each person to be introduced before they have to wrap it up.
Brilliant lineup and I officially wish I could go.
Well, finally there's something bigger coming to L-A than Hannah Montana! If only this panel were shown in 3-D at a thousand theaters nationwide...or pay-per-view.
But this is a good thing, Joss and Sarah together again. In fact, maybe they should move this event to the Staples Center.
As for the idea of making Sarah a bad guy on "Dollhouse", that is a good idea. She hasn't been the bad girl since Cruel Intentions. I hearby envy you all who have the golden tickets for this event.
Now, let's all wish for David Boreanaz, shall we?
If she was a villain in "Dollhouse", I would love if she was like, the house mom, a sort of sweet but manipulative figure for all the 'dolls', and Lilah to everyone else.
That's just me babbling, though. I seriously doubt she'd be joining the show.
If I could afford to get out there, and you could guarantee photo and autograph opportunities, I would pay $750 for it. Basically means cancelling my PS3 ambitions and lowering my cable subscription -- easy trade.
I would love to go to this!! If it weren't in the middle of my school quarter, I would totally find out a way to shell out the money. I can't wait to hear about this incredible event - I hope videos get posted on youtube!!
I'm still seeing that $750 number being bandied about -- do you all think that the demand will be so high and so many members will buy the super-pass thing that there won't even be any of the $35 members' individual panel tickets sold?
So... does that mean that they will be sold??? I just saw this
General Admission:
$35 for individual Paley Center Members; $45 for general public
on the website and I wasn't sure if that was just to the Paley center itself or to the actual event... Damn, now the secrets out...it's every person for themselves!!
There are $50 tickets for premium and $35 for GA, SillyD. I'm going to try to go to 5 events but only one of which I will pay the $50 for. I'm hoping to drop less than $200 on this.
And the $750 is for 2 people for several events with premium seats.
Well spin me round with a blowfish and rap my knuckles purple with a shopping cart. I never in a month of Feb 29th's saw that one coming.
All I can assume is that she saw the *surprise surprise* post that a certain pessimistic idiot left and decided to show him/her what for. I think we should lynch that person... who's with me?
Now, I must consult the Daily Mail fashion section for information as to what one wears to a lynching.
There are only a specific amount of VIP tickets (the $750) so there will be $35 and $50 left, but most paley events have sold out in the first few mins to hours to members so I highly doubt they will be avaliable to non members. Good Luck everyone!
I'm confused about the ticket prices...I really want to go to this though!
All I am seeing as far as "cheapest" is the 70.00 ticket.
EDIT: Nevermind...I see it now. So if it's not sold out by Thursday, I'll be going. Camera and all! I'll see about video-ing the shiny awesomeness of this event!!!
I am so becoming a member just so I can get first crack at it! I am completely in love with the Paley Center right now. Even if I don't get tickets (no jinxing I'm not jinxing), I think I might go to the center just to go. It looks really cool
Now I realize that I'm not forming coherant thoughts but I mean really!
However, I do have a question if someone would be so kind as to answer. Are there usually meet and greets at these festivals or just the panel itself?
Cowboy Guy, at the moment all you can buy are either the $750 VIP tickets or a membership (which doesn't get you into anything specific) for $70. Thursday the individual event tickets will be on sale to members only (so if you pay the $70 today then you can pay the $35 then). Later (I'm having trouble finding it listed), if there are any tickets left for the event we all want, you can buy those for $45.
I'm sorry I was confused. I'm still a little confused.
Not tomorrow, Thursday. I just paid $70 dollars for a chance at a ticket, in the hopes that I'll feel happier about it later. I should, since I'm in a crappy mood now.
Tomorrow it goes on sale for members only. Thursday for non-members.
I have no interest in any of their other events so I feel confident in waiting till Thursday. I doubt it will sell out by then. They always reserve a batch for general admission sales. I used to work for ticketmaster, I know how it works ;)
It would be stellar if they could get the guests to sign off on it so that they can tape and sell this. ::sigh:: If only this was next year, I could have just contemplated going.
I didn't get the impression that audience members would be given a chance to speak to or meet anyone -- am I wrong? I just thought it was a moderated panel and that's that (unless a panelist decided to mosey out and shake a few hands of his/her own volition, of course).
Heh. Why do people keep posting sad faces at the lack of certain people when the list continues to state "Additional panelists to be announced"? It's a little early to be lamenting someone's absence.
I didn't get the impression that audience members would be given a chance to speak to or meet anyone -- am I wrong? I just thought it was a moderated panel and that's that (unless a panelist decided to mosey out and shake a few hands of his/her own volition, of course).
Ok, so we know Who is going so far. When, Where, and Why is obvious too. So What's the What? What will they be talking about? Are they all coming together for a cause, or is it to well and truly honor BtVS? What is going to happen? There will be a panel, but will there be any big What? Long-held questions and hopes will be addressed? Yes/No?
Will it be a tear-sodden kissy-face love-fest (I'd love that)? Or a "Guess WHAT guys, here's what we have in the works" kinda thing? Maybe just a well-deserved retrospective?
WHAT evah. Tax return hits our account Friday. This is huge, and if there is any way I can be there, it. will. happen.
FWIW, "select evenings" from 2005's festival can be purchased on DVD. But for 2007, they have selected clips online but require you to visit the centers to see them in full. Go figure.
Well, regardless of whether it's available on video/audio or not, I have faith that, in this fandom, someone will make a thorough transcription at the least.
"I didn't get the impression that audience members would be given a chance to speak to or meet anyone -- am I wrong? I just thought it was a moderated panel and that's that (unless a panelist decided to mosey out and shake a few hands of his/her own volition, of course)."
I've had the opportunity to speak with Seth on two occasions, once after such a panel. He signed a Wild at Heart script for me, cool guy. Sometimes panelists will stick around and speak with audience members, sometimes they don't.
Does anyone know how many tickets you can buy on an individual membership? Like if you want two tickets to the Buffy event do you need to buy a dual membership?
By the way, according to the release that AICN posted: "During each evening, the audience views episodes or highlights of the featured work and has the opportunity to ask questions of the cast and creative team or the individual involved in its production."
By the way, according to the release that AICN posted: "During each evening, the audience views episodes or highlights of the featured work and has the opportunity to ask questions of the cast and creative team or the individual involved in its production."
For those with questions as to what actually happens at a PaleyFest panel, I had the opportunity to go to three last year: Ugly Betty, Heroes and The Office.
First there is a screening of an episode. Next is a moderated panel. This part is about an hour in length with a moderator asking the panel members questions. Last is a very short Q&A in which audience members get a chance to ask questions. You just raise your hand, so you have to be lucky for one of the people with mikes to spot you and hand the mike over. OF course, since the event is at a new venue, I'm not sure if they will still do Q&As and how it will work.
There is no meet and greet as this is not a convention. Audience members usually rush the stage after the panel is over to say hi to the panelists. I'm not sure if security will be tighter around the stage this year. You are not allowed to take your own pictures or your own videos. They are very strict on this.
So... do you guys think that they'll actually screen an episode, or more of a tribute montagey thing. I wonder if they'll hang around... mayhaps they'll sign things....
You know, if people have really specific questions about ticket process and whatnot, it might make sense to just contact Paley itself, to guarantee you don't get incorrect information. Just, you know, a thought, heh.
Just dying of envy and hoping some kind of official video comes from this & is made available to those of who who couldn't manage the cost (including travel & hotel) in a million years.
Because their strictness about the no video or even still photos from the audience, is dead serious.
I so wish I could go to this. I might even be going down to San Jose around then. However, that's like 6 hours from LA, and I just can't afford a ticket/transportation. Dang it. Someone want to beer me a vacation?
*sigh* Oh well, I got to picket with the Buffy writers/actors/Joss, so I'm luckier than most.
All I can assume is that she saw the *surprise surprise* post that a certain pessimistic idiot left and decided to show him/her what for. I think we should lynch that person... who's with me?
I think you're being unduly hard on yourself onthemightofprinces ... by which I mean stop stealing all the wind from our sarcastic sails ;-).
(and i'd wear one of those neck support things if I were you, could pay off ;)
So no photo or video allowed ? Bollocks.
(audio recordings are still OK though, right ? *cough* hint *cough* ;)
I’m using all the superstitious ways (that I personally don’t believe in but willing to try for science as well as self-gratification) to bring out a DVD of this.
Right now I’ve got, knocking on wood, wishing on a star (song is optional but proven to increase chances for fulfillment), crossing fingers; toes; eyes, kissing a black cat (I made this one up, I do love black cats!), throwing coins in the bathtub, bribing my four year old cousin’s tooth fairy to break the rules, slowly torturing a flower by plucking its petals out- one by one… but I do draw the line at chain-emailing, that’s just nasty, dude.
With that line-up, and the Pushing Daisies session earlier in the schedule, and the fact that Gallaghers Steakhouse in Vegas, not to mention In 'N' Out burger, I hear it all calling me from all the way Down Under.
It's looking very much like myself and one other insane Aussie will be making the trek up for this.
Gonna be awesome... Except the long flight though!
Cowboyguy, The Paley events I have gone to, you are allowed to have your camera for after the panel, they don't take them away at the door, but they are very very strict on no taking photos of any kind during the panel, if it's at all like their other events they have had in the past.
Teacherdarling..me too. I always bring my camera for all the years I have been going. At the How I Met Your Mother panel a couple years ago I got a picture with Josh(Ted), also Aly signed my Willow/Tara action figure set. She had not seen it yet and was very excited to see it.
I'd give my left pinky finger to be at this event! Yes, left pinky. I've been known to say I'd give my left arm to sing like Pavarotti or Beniamino Gili and that always seemed like a fair deal.
In general, I'd say giving up any body part for this event is pretty impressive. I bet I could set up a webcam... and it appears www.PinkyForWhedon.com is available.
Well my nice new digital camera can record video. Alot of it. So if they allow digital cameras...I wonder if I could be really sneaky about it and just record it? I could just turn off the lcd screen. I wonder how long it will be.
Please please let there be tickets on the 10th!! If it sells out before then I'll cry!
Wow, that'd be amazing. I think we'll all been touched by it in one way or another, whether it be a relative or friend or even ourselves. And why the hell is it always blue/grey, no matter what you've been wearing ?
Well curing cancer, solving the belly button fluff problem and achieving world peace is only going to take them the first ten minutes, what we really want to know is what they are going to do after that.
...only going to take them the first ten minutes, what we really want to know is what they are going to do after that.
Wow... that's scary. A girl said a very similar thing to me the other month.
I think they may do a merry jig
1.) To determine the length of a piece of string, fold it in half, then again in half. Measure the surface length and multiply your measurement by 4.
2.) Buses come in threes because should buses be on the same route, the one in front will spend the most time boarding passengers, thus meaning the ones behind gain ground. Over a long enough route the distance between the buses diminshes and therefore results in their consecutive arrival.
Nah, you have to take it where you can find it in this life I reckon. And 100th posts are better for your arteries than pancakes.
That apartment theory makes sense. I still worry about the hubris of humanity though, buses just weren't meant to be stacked more than 2 high. Have we learned nothing from the Babel story ? Did Cate Blanchett suffer in vain ?
Mind you, three buses is nothing. I once saw 12, yes 12 of them all stacked upon each other. It was a doubledecahedron.
I think the central import of the account of Babel was that God dislikes inefficiency. They were doing all that work, just to get nearer to him when he'd built some perfectly good mountains elsewhere.
It was a very silly plan on the part of humankind though, as soon as they'd of gotten to the 700th storey they wouldn't be able to breathe.
On a sidenote, by the 7th Charmed story, I was likewise unable to breathe.
Hi, the mods thought I might be of some help regarding this event...
Cameras are allowed inside, but you cannot take pictures during the event. It's not a meet and greet, but sometimes the panelists will stick around afterwards either on stage or in the lobby and take photos and sign autographs. It all depends on them.
All panels are taped and archived at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills and New York, where they can be viewed in their entirety. They will not be in the collection the next day or even in a couple of months. For example, last year's Paley panels are available for viewing at the Paley Center, but a seminar from April is still not archived in Beverly Hills. It just depends.
About three years ago, three of the panels were sold as DVDs at the Paley Center, but that hasn't been done since. Two years ago, some of the panels were available as bonus discs at Best Buy. Last year, they were at Target. They're also increasingly making their way online at the Paley Center's site and partnerships with Yahoo TV and iTunes.
Tickets:
Premium Packages A & B - $750 - on sale now until 5 p.m. PT today.
Members - $35 GA, $50 Premium - go on sale 2/7
Non-Members - $45 GA, $60 Premium - go on sale 2/10
There is a four-ticket limit per person, per event. If you have an individual membership, you can purchase up to four tickets per event. You don't need a dual/family membership.
I can't guarantee anything, but I do think that there will still tickets when they go on sale to members. As for non-members, it's anyone's guess. In the past, panels have sold out to members, but the venue this year is bigger. If you want to become a member, it starts at $70 per individual ($50 for seniors & students), but at this point, it's cutting it a bit close. I don't know if your order would be processed in time. That's why there was a Jan. 24 cut-off date to join/renew for PaleyFest tickets.
Festival Hotline (for pre-recorded information): 310.786.1010
ozfinn: In-N-Out is very much worth it and very close to where PaleyFest is being held!
alexreager: I don't mean to discourage anyone. I just want them to be prepared and have the correct info.
You never know, there may be tickets for non-members (I'm guessing that's what you are). Also, sometimes there are tickets available for sold out events the day of at the ticket table. If you live in the area, you can try that.
I did not get a ticket.
Sold out..I have been a member for 4 years and again like last year. They told me my member number was invalid.
So I got through to the office after an hour, they gave me a password..Buffy was sold out.
And now there are some on ebay..they say do not resale.
I am really sad. I think it is hurtful to people who want to go to just buy tickets and sell them on ebay.
I got a ticket! Funny enough, it took me an hour too.
Sold out..I have been a member for 4 years and again like last year. They told me my member number was invalid.
So I got through to the office after an hour, they gave me a password..Buffy was sold out.
Huh... I've been checking the site and it doesn't say that it's sold out.... How odd.
Was anyone able to get through on Ticket Web? For me, the Buffy page was missing the section to choose tickets, and it's still not there. I was able to get Mad Men and Dirty Sexy Money through Ticket Web, but by the time I got through on the phone, Buffy was sold out. And yeah, I saw the ones on eBay. If I believed in hell, I would also believe that there's a special place there for ticket scalpers. *sigh* :*(
Well, I personally, am a bit shocked that she's attending.
Having said that, I really, really want a copy of this!
When Supernatural had it's Paley panel, they recorded the whole event and included it when the season 1 DVDs were released. Well, there aren't anymore Buffy DVDs to release, unless they specially repackage the 7 season set or something, but maybe there is hope they will release it. I really do hope they put this out for us.

It's looking very much like myself and one other insane Aussie will be making the trek up for this.
Gonna be awesome... Except the long flight though!

And a nice little birdie flip off to all of us who thought Sarah wouldn't/couldn't/shouldn't make it.
I would love to see a twitter feed if anyone can manage to set one up, smuggle in a phone and take their eyes off the stage long enough to update us.
Otherwise- best of luck to you all with getting tickets and enjoy the event!

In general, I'd say giving up any body part for this event is pretty impressive. I bet I could set up a webcam... and it appears www.PinkyForWhedon.com is available.

Wow... that's scary.
Now, back to the merry jig...

Wow, I got the 100th post. Is it sad that this is the 2nd place highlight of my day... after pancakes.

That apartment theory makes sense. I still worry about the hubris of humanity though, buses just weren't meant to be stacked more than 2 high. Have we learned nothing from the Babel story ? Did Cate Blanchett suffer in vain ?

bookworm | February 06, 19:20 CET
I think the central import of the account of Babel was that God dislikes inefficiency. They were doing all that work, just to get nearer to him when he'd built some perfectly good mountains elsewhere.
It was a very silly plan on the part of humankind though, as soon as they'd of gotten to the 700th storey they wouldn't be able to breathe.
On a sidenote, by the 7th Charmed story, I was likewise unable to breathe.

Hah, nice ;).
Sorry Simon, quite right (nevermind Off Topic though, where do we go for Off Planet chat ? ;).

I think you'll now find that you've now got some free time elsewhere to calm your jets and perhaps change your attitude as well.

24 cut-off date to join/renew for PaleyFest tickets.

ozfinn: In-N-Out is very much worth it and very close to where PaleyFest is being held!

At least I get to keep my pinky finger.
alexreager | February 07, 00:30 CET
You never know, there may be tickets for non-members (I'm guessing that's what you are). Also, sometimes there are tickets available for sold out events the day of at the ticket table. If you live in the area, you can try that.

I talked to the museum and it is SOLD OUT. They told me.
SillyD | February 08, 01:58 CET
Having said that, I really, really want a copy of this!
When Supernatural had it's Paley panel, they recorded the whole event and included it when the season 1 DVDs were released. Well, there aren't anymore Buffy DVDs to release, unless they specially repackage the 7 season set or something, but maybe there is hope they will release it. I really do hope they put this out for us.
CloudyVisions | February 08, 03:16 CET
Have any of the other panels sold out?
hacksaway | February 08, 03:25 CET
I talked to the museum and it is SOLD OUT. They told me.
I'm sorry... that really sucks.... :(
dulce_serenidad | February 08, 09:41 CET
And worse yet, is that there are some on eBay. Scalpers deserve to go to that special kind of hell.
That means the average fanatic like you, and I cannot go..but some jerk decided to buy four tickets just to make a profit off of us!
