(SPOILER) Lots of James Marsters behind the scenes pics at the newly revamped BBC America Torchwood website. Behind the scenes pictures of James Marsters as Captain John in the "Gallery" section. Plus yet more new video footage elsewhere on the site.

BBC America have relaunched their Torchwood website . Lots of interesting articles and features, including new behind the scenes pictures of James Marsters. You can also watch an exclusive clip of the first episode ( be warned, you have to sit through a couple of commercials first but it's worth it ).

Great new clip! Love the new playfulness and humor evident this season all ready. And I don't think I can ever say enough how wonderful it is to see JM in such a fantastic role! It's almost like it was written just for him. ;)

The new clip is wonderful. The whole thing looks like being so much more fun this season. *crosses fingers*

The clip is great. You can really see the change in tone already, which is a very good sign.

The pictures are terrific too. I love behind the scenes stuff. Love the one with John's arm around James' shoulder. Sweet. :0)

Well, I'm Gwen and it seems fairly accurate. I do wonder how the "which is your favorite Beatle" question weights. On the squee side, looks like a pretty fun adventure for the opening and hopefully all of season 2.

Now I have a major complaint. What's up with not being able to "save" the pics in the photo gallery? Is this standard on U.K. sites? I've never encountered it on a fan site before.
Umm, not that I actually would save them .... well, maybe the one with JB's arm around JM, that would look very sweet on my desktop ;-)
But mainly just a hypothetical question (Want those pics to save, damn it!!!)

I really hope more work like this is on the way for JM. He is so good at this kind of thing. I mean, yes, he is good at the other stuff too, but he is amazing at playing the larger than life, complicated villains...especially those that have an extra helping of libido. ;-)

I don't know Dragonball Z at all, so I have no idea what his character is supposed to be like internally. This clip makes me want to do research.

Dante is a flamboyant charasmatic rogue who has a lot of adventures in the future. Admittedly he's Russian but his jacket is very similar to the one that Captain John wears. It's been bothering me for ages about why I thought Captain John seemed very familar. And it finally clicked that it was Nikolai Dante. Be interesting to see if any other British comic readers see it as well.

I'm Gwen, which makes perfect sense because i'm not Welsh and not a woman.

Nikolai Dante is a character in UK weekly comic "2000 AD" newcj. He's a likeable rogue and thief whose costume looks a bit like JM's in TW. ETA: Oops, like Simon says. And yep, I can see the resemblance though i've not actually read '2000AD' since Dante was created - stopped in the 80s with occasional dippings in the 90s.

(and Dante himself must owe more than a nod to everyone's favourite sci-fi con-man and thief, "Slippery" Jim De Griz, the one and only Stainless Steel Rat)

Thanks, guys. The costume does look very similar. I wonder whether that was the costumer's idea or part of the script. One of the things I had figured was that they needed something different for Capt. John than they had for Capt. Jack and as far away from Spike as they could get, so long coats and dark colors were out. Short red flashy coat and lots of weapons works for both problems.

The short coat also gives the fans ammunition in the debate about whether JM has a backside or not. It may not have entered the decision making process in a strictly conscious way, but I have no doubt was a factor. ;-)

Wemb, just in case nobody told you, don't listen to Saje. He can be a devilish kind of boy.

I was joking about the deate. It is small, (Both the debate and perhaps the subject of the debate depending on who you listen to. ;-) ) and all in fun. JM keeps himself thin to be marketable and has a tendency to wear jeans that are a bit baggy in the back. Hence a tongue-in-cheek debate that probably serves more as a silly excuse to examine parts of photographs more closely than would normally be considered necessary, than an actual debate. Being a former assistant costumer though, it both occurred to me and tickled my funny bone that such things are taken into consideration when designing costumes.

Torchwood is going to be awesome, but yeah Xane....I get where you're coming from about Without a Trace.
I still like that show though, and hopefully James will figure more prominently into some of the next episodes.
His return on Smallville is soon too I think!!!
Looking forward to Milton Fine/Brainiac's come back!!!!!

James has certainly been a very busy boy lately and that makes me insanely happy.

I mean I'll still watch Without a Trace, but god, anytime James is not onscreen, snorecity. Just not my kind of show. Am looking forward to more Brainiac though. More my speed. Although I gave it up halfway though last season. Couldn't take another close-up of Lana's anguish face.

... i'm all about the heart thing, used to think with my elbow but that didn't turn out too well, it was bad at basic arithmetic.

(yeah, must confess i'm not 100% convinced this is a really accurate measure of personalities. Though in fairness I am almost always able to live with myself the next day - sure there've been a couple of times i've killed myself but those were very rare occasions and I soon got over it)
