I didn't hate six, Nox. It was uncomfortable but, wow, how great is that? The gifts were given and the bereavement of their loss made the reacquisition all the more joyful.
I love Grey's Anatomy but it's really not the kind of show I usually like. So I don't think I'm going to be watching Private Practice, although I wish Marti lots of luck.
RhaegarTargaryen I understand every word of that (which I think may be really scary) & couldn't agree more. I think you deserve some kind of "under the radar" prize for Best Use Of Obscure Language to make a point ;=)
I hated six, just hated it. And my worry is that Marti still does not get it. You cannot take a program like Grey's and make it much darker; you will lose the audience. Which is what happened, as viewing was down something like 10% last season (no,cannot recall the citation here).
Dana5140, I don't think Marti is working on Grey's Anatomy any longer, since she switched to Private Practice. Which IMO is a shame, since last season's Grey's was my favorite, just as season 6 is my favorite BtS season.
As for the "making it darker" element, Private Practice seems like such a piece of fluff, I can't see that happening. But too soapy, perhaps, judging from the Grey's ep that previewed it.
Season 6 is one of my least favorite seasons. The concept was good but I just think they executed it poorly.
I'm trying to get into Private Practice because I loved the character of Addison on Grey's, but the first episode didn't really live up to the hype. Except for the last few minutes, it felt like I was watching the character I loved so much. I can agree with Marti that they need to find a happy medium with the light and darker concepts for PP and Grey's.
I wish Marti knew how many people really LOVE S6, there are tons, but most of them seem to be people who watched the show on DVD only.
Really though, that season is one of the most talked about is all the discussions of the Buffyverse. I know there are still plenty that hate it, or didn't like it for one reason or another, but there are plenty of people who felt it was the best of the lot (or one of them at least).
I stopped watching Grey's after Denny died, mostly because it was getting really difficult to keep up with my current schedule. I've never really liked Addison, and I can't stand Piz, so the new show doesn't have a lot of appeal to me.
I'll go ten tons of YUM on that.

I'll be watching Private Practice for Chris Lowell, but Taye Diggs has it going on too.

If it means Noxon stays away from Grey's Anatomy, I sincerely wish Private Practice a long, sustained run.
