Nathan and Mike Rowe = BFF? Skimming through the "Dirty Jobs" message boards at discovery.com and in the response to whether Mike Rowe would be interested in a charity screening of the show a la "Serenity," host Mike Rowe revealed a 'versy connection.

"I've never met Joss, but lived next door to Nathan Fillion for a few years in NY. Back in the Joey Buchanan days...A good actor, and a good friend."

That's awesome! I love Mike Rowe and the idea that he and Nathan could be friends makes perfect sense to me.

Heh. For the record, for charity screenings of Serenity we weren't going through Joss, but Universal.

Ok, I have a secret crush on Mike Rowe...

And has anyone else noticed that there is pretty much never a negative thing said about Nathan? By fans or other actors? I mean, after a while of hearing all these positive accounts, you start to think maybe there's something to them. Maybe Nathan is genuinely a nice guy. I know it's not fair to judge someone on one experience, because my experience was glowing and wonderful and maybe he was just having a good day, but when you hear repeated stories about what a good guy he is...it's hard not to believe them....

Nice guy, strong, good-looking, funny, at ease in any situation (that doesn't involve alligators), open and respectful of everyone, with a lot more intelligence under the hood than he tends to show off.

I think someone should call Martin Firrell.

Nathan used to have a comment on his MySpace page under "Television" that said, "If you're not watching Dirty Jobs, what are you doing with your life?"

It was a fun comment and made sense to me. Mike Rowe is also very funny, can joke about himself, rolls right along with the action, and ain't shy at all about doing his own stunts. Those two have a lot in common.

Plus... handsome, charming guys, who you hope get in a situation where the shirt's just gotta come off. Yeah, that too.

.

Edited cuz of the heat... yeah, gorram heat wave...

Funny! The SO lurves Dirty Jobs---right after Mythbusters, Pinks, and anything to do with motorcycles--and we just happened to be watching a Labor Day re-run. Since I have a bit of admiration for Mike Rowe myself (when he's not involved with anything too disgusting), it only adds to my enthusiasm--and my SO's--to learn that he has a link to Nathan Fillion. Two fine gentlemen, I say.

The fact that Mike Rowe and Nathan Fillion are friends rocks my freakin' world. That's AWEsome.

We've been watching the Dirty Jobs marathon all day. When I like a show, I tend to go hit Wikipedia and the show's site and just go immersive (you might have noticed). Mike spends a lot of time on the DJ message boards, responding to questions and giving his views on life. Funny, funny guy.

I had never seen Dirty Jobs before today, and ended up watching several eps with the whole family. We all enjoyed it. Then I come over to Whedonesque, and what do I see?!? I should know by now, everything is connnected to the Whedonverse ;)

I've never seen Dirty Jobs, but I did see Mike Rowe on The Tonight Show last week and was quite impressed.

He's also the "host" of Deadliest Catch.

From time to time a show titled "The Most" pops up on the History Channel. It was done a few years ago and Mike Rowe was its host. His voice is very distinctive, so one can recognize him right away... but he looked noticeably different back then. It's not that he's just a bit younger, it's that he's much more slender and the smaller frame is such a different physical presence.

Now he's added a lot more muscle, a bit more time has passed to give him character in his face, and working on so many manly dirty jobs seems to have added not just physical strength, but maybe also a depth that comes from challenging life experiences. It's obvious why Ford hired him to be the spokesman for their strong, tough pick-up trucks.
