Nathan Fillion looks back on "One Life to Live".
With the 10,000th episode of the soap airing this week, the official website has a cool video clip of Nathan talking about his character and how the show made him "technically perfect".
A bigger clip of him talking about the show can be found here.

You know, that almost makes me want to watch it. Almost ;).
(if, just in that paragraph, they could also have squeezed in an evil twin storyline I reckon they might have had me)

It's a wonder Nigella Lawson turned out so well I reckon ;).

Hope I set my vcr correctly.

Nathan's right to say it's "destroyed... we think." It could easily come back with another city playing it, or with its head just stitched back on in a ground-breaking metropolitan operation.
I also got a kick out of it when they went into their "Old West" past - it was sorta "One Live To Live meets Gunsmoke" in a dee-lightfully cheesy, soapy way...
I hafta confess, I'll be watching Nathan's appearances on the soap channel re-play... I'll have my fingers crossed that his re-appearance kicks off a Niki episode for Viki, 'cause that'd be awesome...

I think my mom went on a studio tour when the show started, because I think I watched the show from the beginning.
Yep - officially old.

Did anyone here think that Nathan was just a little too smiley for a funeral?

I thought exactly that! I kind of got the impression his joy at seeing old friends may have overwhelmed the need to look sad. He did a little better later in the episode in more intimate moments.
I'm not a soap fan, but this was fun. More Nathan on tv? Yeah!

My crush on the guy just keeps getting bigger all the time. What a doll.

Thursday was the 9,999 episode. Be sure to watch Friday for the 10,000 episode.
FollowMal,
And that fits his character too. If I understand correctly, "Joey" just flew in from London and has been away for a while. At some funerals I've been to, we are laughing at times at memories/stories etc. Smiling to comfort people. Etc.

MYPinTA - I've also had some unfortunate giggling fits while in a church. Once at a wedding when the groom started reciting his vows and another time at a funeral. The look on my husband's face when I started up only set me off even more and I was forced to bury my face in his shoulder!

A friend and I were talking about this exact same thing today.
How we've laughed and giggled and caught up in the midst of a funeral. While the loss of our loved one is hard to bear and we cry, seeing other people we love is fulfilling and reaffirming.
In that light, I'd say Nathan's acting was spot on.

Also, laughter sometimes spontaneously erupts from tension or danger - when I used to climb I remember a couple of times I came close to falling and my first response was to giggle (note, I don't mean looking back on it afterwards, I mean pretty much as it happens a little giggle sort of bubbles out. Nice really, I always wanted to die with a smile on my face ;). Never happened when I had time to think about falling though e.g. if you feel a hold slowly slipping it's all about the sweating and the barely contained panic. Fun, fun, fun ;).

And another thing about Nathan - being in the profession he is, I'm sure he has a healthy supply of ego. What I love about him is that he never seems to let that get out of whack. Please tell me if anyone can think of another prime time/feature film actor that would deign to return to a soap opera just to honor the passing of another character.
Personal appearances, roles he plays, interviews, doesn't matter. He always seems to be so self-deprecating and full of humor. Cool human, that Nathan.
And bl!! So good to see you! Where ya been, girl?
