CCI: Joss on Buffy and Beyond.
Since the one account was brief and now off the main page, here's ComicBookResources.com's coverage of Joss' Dark Horse Panel with some more information.

Never forget. Never surrender.
We hold.

Also, in that quote in Anonymous1's comment, another edit: "then I come here", not "them I come here".

But that is just nit-picking, I'm glad they did a good write up to augment the one already here at Whedonesque.

Is that Melaka's sister?? :~P
Funny thing, when Joss announced that he was going to do 'Ripper', I totally misheard him say 'River'. And while everyone was cheering, I looked at my husband and said, "I didn't know he was doing a River project." He just looked at me dumbly and said, "Uh, Ripper. As in, Giles!!" I think hubby is planning on teasing me with that for many moons to come.

Anyway, I think he meant that writing the books was something he always wanted to do, so even though it was time-consuming and so forth, he did it and it's crossed off the list. Akin to a mid-life crisis, only with more ruby quartz lenses and best dragons ever.

Ahem, am I the only one who did a double take at the name in purple not being Joss?
Ceslas | July 31, 09:37 CET
It's not quite the TV series for which he is given free reign and limitless budget that we'd get in ideal-world, but still: eee!

Merry Marvel Marching Society.

Sauce! It still is. Just look a little to the right.

p.s. I like Joss being back and all fighting fit and raring to go.

Really, that's the Joss-related headline from Comic-Con this year, since the bulk of his pre-Q&A talk (as near as I could tell) was about being at the point where he's starting to see various smaller/different ways of getting things done as within reach (creator-owned comics, Ripper via BBC, short film ballet for Summer, etc.) -- and I suspect the next two years might be some of the most interesting Joss years in awhile.
Now I just hope that his drive-by reference, in two interviews last year to "radio plays" amongst a list of forms in which one might do some work actually turns out to be something that's sitting on those 12 clipboards of his.

Well, I think that Joss's
hellish torturelearning experience with Wonder Woman - working on someone else's original concept and under someone else's more narrow creative control- was so immensely frustrating that liberation from it has freed up his creative juices, not to mention a piece of his soul.Having that big old weight off his shoulders has helped let out all the other cool, more Jossian things inside - the stuff that we want to see, and allowed him to re-frame and express himself and push on through in a groovy new way.
Huzzah for dumping the stuff that holds us back, and mega-hurrahs for Jossir with 50% more Jossian flavour.
That was my theory, which was not about dinosaurs.
QuoterGal | July 31, 11:48 CET
Yeah, the way the panel comes across, I can't help but imagine 'Gonna Fly' playing in the background as Joss gets back into shape, ready to kick major smaller project ass.
Also,
If he means "writer-careful-with-words-'literally'" then that sounds really interesting, maybe some kind of deconstruction ? 'Cabin in the Woods' sounds almost like the Ur horror movie, wonder if they're doing something that looks at the template, a la 'Scream', and asks some questions, possibly with a feminist slant ?
(if he just means "human-not-that-careful-so-not-literally-literally" then it's only really interesting - hey, Joss and Drew, it's at least really interesting ;).

I would have loved to have seen that reunion between Willow and Tara as he described it, with Buffy being the instigator, using her sole life-altering wish to bring back Tara. I even wrote a short story based on that scene. I agree it would have been a "signature moment." Talk about rewarding your best friend for all she's done for the cause!
Maybe Joss is hinting at the future? Who knows. One can hope. He's a sneaky cat.

I'm fairly certain he said there were no deals actually in place. But he sounded like things were likely moving forward.
The One True b!X | July 31, 19:44 CET
On the other hand, I am puzzled by "his fist half-dozen attempts to open his mouth were drowned out."
“It's been a rough couple of years, because I assume I've been forgotten,” Whedon said.
Joss, come visit here more often. You'll see how forgotten you aren't.

I'm kinda fond of "the must is not to be argued with" even if it should be "the muse." We've been using it all day chez moi.
QuoterGal | July 31, 21:24 CET
I did wonder at first if "must" was witty word usage.
Sunfire | July 31, 21:33 CET
Which is the only Joss moment I managed to capture on camera.

But that's my favorite shot of Joss of all, b!X. It's like that's the moment he realized that we really really missed him. I couldn't believe that he had any doubts at all, and now I want to hug his head too. (Except of course that was strictly a one-time deal!!)
cabri | July 31, 22:13 CET
Joss just needs to connect with the right people who will fork over the money and not doubt his genius.

Practicing his lightsabre pose ? What's wrong with that ?
Simon's mumbling "screw Tara, bring back Riley" as we 'speak' ;)
Well, somebody has to die and it seems a bit off to kill Tara again.
Disclaimer: I don't actually mind Riley - before all the Riley fan gets up in my grill ;)

ah, the irony in that sentence's need for its own copy-edit is lovely! :)

"The must is not to be argued with"--That's what I keep telling my daughter.
I like QG's theory (even if there are no dinosaurs in it), and I've also been wondering about that use of "literally." I've been trying to figure out how the plot could involve ending all horror movies, but I'm not getting anywhere.
jcs | July 31, 23:34 CET
And QuoterGal is right. My question is how fists got involved with Joss speaking. Although that picture from B!x does...um, he was holding his light-sabre in his fist?
