Glad to see Serenity there. The more I think on it, the better it gets. The mark of a really great film.

Hm, no Alien or 2001: A Space Odyssey? ET? Close Encounters? I guess they had to limit it somehow.

I disagree about the full THX 1138 being boring, though; I liked it a whole lot. I've never seen the student film, though. I imagine that would be pretty interesting.

Yep, i'd put any one of those ahead of 'Mad Max' (and if I had to show a Max movie it'd be 2 anyway, it's just more consistent IMO).

Still, not a bad line-up. I'm sure Joss would be pleased in the extreme to see 'Serenity' alongside undisputed classics like 'Metropolis' and 'The Day the Earth Stood Still'.

(though the last time I went to a sci-fi marathon there was much wailing and aching of bums - it was for the Alien trilogy as it was then so only about 6-7 hours and that was bad enough. 14 ? You could include me out even if it wasn't 4000 miles away ;)

Maybe these were chosen because of their lack of playing time on TV. I think pretty much all the movies mentioned have been shown on TV fairly recently.

Just a thought.
