'Heroes' picked up for a full season.
The hit new drama featuring Leonard Roberts (Forrest in Buffy) and other Whedonverse connections is the first show to be ordered for nine episodes.
I didn't see this posted in the archives.

I could be wrong -- I mean, it was pretty dark in that corner!

I've missed a total of about 20 minutes from all the episodes combined, so it's possible I just missed seeing 'em, but doubt it...

Oops - Quoter Gal beat me to it, but hey! I finally figured out how to turn a word into a link! I'm proud.

Yeah that was pretty gross. How do explain your way out of that? Or even put yourself back together? It is not the same as poping a bone back in place. Her dad would have had to be notified before the autopsy right?

ETA: Ok, so maybe that wasn't Forrest in the bar... well, whoever he is, he's HOT.

That's nuthin'. I can turn sausage into a link.
Ravenu, you've been reading too much Playboy. Boys are not cars. But wasn't there a Whoopi Goldberg movie called "Riding on Cars Like Boys"?
jaynelovesvera | October 11, 02:22 CET
Of course. *slaps forehead* Duh! Of course, he is going to be that character.
The morgue scene? We both jumped about a foot and made loud yuuck sounds. Extremely startling...

I like the show. Hiro is easily my favorite (with the prof's son easily my least favorite). I also like Hiro's subtitles being shown kind of comic book bubble style, not at the bottom. Once in a while I kind of miss a line, but I think it's a cool visual dynamic.

Have mercy on all of us...
*Quickly casts a ring of charms, potions and spells around her.*
1 Well, I don't, really, but for the purposes of this post, let's pretend I do...

Sure as hell hope for her sake she's not an organ donor. :-)
And Leonard Roberts could of course be both the guy in the bar and Niki's husband.

Also, people wanting to know more about "Heroes" should check out this week's TV Guide (the one with the ubiquitous Marcia Cross on the cover) - they have a good piece on all the characters and their powers (including some serious spoilers, so bewareth!)

And no, I haven't seen Leonard Roberts in it yet. I'll rewatch last night on the DVR, but I didn't think he was the guy in the bar.

Little known fact: Marvin Gaye, jealous of Curtis Mayfield's highly successful "Superfly" soundtrack, which was loosely based on my life, tried to emulate that success by writing the "Trouble Man" soundtrack about me. It was not as successful as "Superfly", so Marvin rather unfairly blamed me and cut off our friendship. Contrary to popular belief, however, I was not the inspiration for his later masterwork "Sexual Healing".
Sorry, Telltale, I didn't. But when he mentioned the Moody Blues I did think of "Days of Future Past".
OzLady, Marcia Cross should be on Heroes. Being everywhere at once would be a handy superpower for a hero.

Anything I said about last week's ep being a little slow -- well, OK, that one was a little slow, but last night's totally unbelievably made up for it. I think they discovered the trick -- you don't have to show every damn character every damn ep. That's what slowed down the previous ep, IMO. OK, so last night (Monday in the US) we only saw the stripper for a second, and that was on Hiro's friend's iPod. Perfect. Kept things moving by focusing on the characters who were doing stuff, yo.
And that ending? Holy frakkin' frak! Yeah, gotta admit, I'm looking forward to seeing the joy ride from hell, too, RavenU. That boy needs to be taught some manners, yo. *pounds fist into palm in a threatening way* ;-)

I meant to agree with you above that surely wasn't our Forrest in the bar. I thought I recognized the actor in the bar but I still can't place from where. I hadn't thought about him being Skyler, though he was obviously set up to be a bad guy.

But maybe its just that there are too many characters. There are so many that I am having a hard time caring or even remembering a lot of them. Although I guess that has worked for Lost, which I don't watch so maybe thats what the creators are going for.
I like the cheerleader, but ewwww.
I liked the cop's story last night.
I previously liked the flying brothers but they kind of lost me last night.
I don't like the neighbor of Mohinder, either she isn't much of an actress or she is the bad guy. She sounds false to me. But maybe she is supposed to.
I can never get interested in mirror mom. Not sure why.
The artist is hot. Mohinder is hot. Don't know if that is enough.

The one thing that does bug me though is that it's on right before Studio 60. I tape both and usually watch them back to back. The shows are so very different in tone and pacing that I almost have pause the VCR (yes, I am living squarely in the 80's, why do you ask?) and shake my head to realign everything into Studio 60 mode. Not that I'm complaining, cause it does make for easier taping set-up, but it's just an odd combination. And it seems that the game show with the suitcases (Deal or No Deal maybe? I've only seen the last minute or three in fast forward) is an odd lead in. But, if it works for NBC, I'm good with it.

Still, I love that the fate of the world depends on a Trekkie with a comic book.

I seriously love this show, and will continue to watch it (and pimp it whenever I can). But I'd have to say Battlestar Galactica wins the prize for best show since Whedon.

I also got a kick out of that final scene and also wondered why the heck they'd do an autopsy on her like that one but maybe daddy dearest was behind it. And who pulled the stick out of her neck?? It couldn't have been her because she was clearly dead (and that was a neat trick seeing the life come back into her). I did love her reaction too when she looked down and saw what happened.
And is Clea DuVall a regular as well?
Firefly Flanatic | October 11, 07:57 CET
I like the mirror mom/stripper character's kid. Very rarely do you get good child actors, and he is really great. Hiro rules and Jess, I mean Peter, is hot ( a little whiny though). So great to see THE Greg Grunberg again. Weird to not see him cracking jokes though. Loved the scene where the bad dude forced the cop to almost shoot herself. Yikes.
In my family we give everything a letter grade (weird family traditions) so the acting gets a B+, the writing gets a B, and the directing gets an A-. I'll keep tuning in.
Harmalicious | October 11, 07:58 CET
GT0163c, I have to totally agree with you on this. I too have a hard time setting my mind to Studio after watching Heroes.
Firefly Flanatic | October 11, 08:02 CET
however, you're assuming that it's a city/hospital morgue or something, and not something related to the shadow organization that her father is involved in. *They* might be interested in what's happening through her whole body, regardless of the log in her neck.
Thes.

I still feel the same thing from when I watched the pilot the first time, that the show takes itself a little bit too seriously.
But it has a better flow narratively than other new shows that I tried out.
I loved the "Studio 60" pilot, but since then, though Aaron Sorkin do write great dialogue, it just seems lost and to self centered. And although I'm still watching Vanished, which I tried out for some reason that I can't recall right now. And everytime I see Rebecca Gayheart on screen, I'm just delighted that she never worked as Inara, and thankful that we got Morena. Thank Joss.
Back on Heroes, I'm quite interested on their plot x character saga narrative, but the show deserved better dialogue writing.
Am I the only one who smirked, imagining Clea Duvall's character facing some person with invisibility abilities in this show.

I recently became a fan of Veronica Mars, and if I had to choose the better episode between this week's Heroes and VM, Heroes wins hands down. While I agree BSG is the best new show since Joss left the airwaves, Heroes is definitely the best new show of this season, imho.

I can't see football boy sticking around, and while the stick may have been what "killed" her, something else may have been what caused her to fall on the stick. In this case football boy, but she could've been drunk and tripped, or, or,or.
Anywhoo - loving this show, but I'm not calling it anywhere near the best PJW.
Znachki | October 11, 20:12 CET
I'm wondering how much Bryan Fuller is contributing (or will contribute). He seems to be pretty good at dialogue. Or they need to get David Greenwalt or Jane Espenson in there. The shows they work on always seem to have great dialogue. (I do love the dialogue between Hiro and Ando, though. Always very funny.)
Nebula1400 | October 11, 20:33 CET
April I wondered the same thing, honestly. Who knows if it was deliberate, but, it amused me....
Numfar PTB I agree the dialog needs help. I think it's part of why I'm getting impatient with them to move the plot forward. The VO narration is on the pretentious side, and if the dialog were better, I'd not notice that we've still gotten next to nowhere on moving the plot. In fact, I'd say the best dialog is the subtitles for the Japanese. It's almost the only dialog that's sounded good, and that has caused more than one chuckle.
Add another vote in the "BSG is the best show since Whedonesque-TV left." There are a few other good shows, but, BSG towers over them all.
Personally, my vote for the best new show of the season is "The Nine." Heroes is enjoyable, and I'll be watching it regularly, but, "The Nine," is better.
