(SPOILER) David Boreanaz digs deep for Bones. The new season of Bones starts tonight on Fox. And to mark this here's an interview David did with iFMagazine. He chats about the show, how it compares to Buffy and whether his Buffy and Angel fans have embraced it. TV Guide's Insider has a new spoilerish interview with him too. IGN.com has a Bones set visit article where amongst other things, David chats about singing 'Mandy'.

Love the interview. He is always such a honest, real guy.

I am so excited for tonight's premiere. And the rest of this season.

I'm getting into Bones now, having seen two episodes. I'm not usually into crime investigation shows or anything like that, but as Firefly has taught me, I should never judge a show on genre. That way leads to the snubbing of wonderful shows and missing out on the bandwagon.

It's interesting that Buffy is mentioned more in that article than Angel.

I've added a third link to the subject line, it's an interesting set visit article over at IGN.com.

Speaking for just myself, as a Buffy and Angel fan who has given Bones a considerable amount of time to grow on me, I have to admit that I have yet to get any kind of feel for the show.

I watched the first few (five I think) episodes and then basically forgot all about it for a while. Went back to it again after hearing good things about it around here for a couple of weeks then forgot about it again. Finally I think I caught one or two episodes towards the end of season one but frankly I'd be hard pressed to recall any details.

I like David a lot and I actually do rate his acting ability but this show lacks something for me. I'm not a fan of the CSI/Law and Order/Cold Case type series anyway and Bones is basically of that genre so that doesn't help me to maintain interest. The one thing that I will give Bones is that, for a procedural at least, the characters are relatively interesting and a lot more three dimensional and developed than I have ever seen from series like Law and Order.

At the end of the day though I can't pretend that I have watched a single episode where I didn't find the plot boring and predictable. I might give the early episodes of season two a chance and see if the new cast mix improves anything but I seriously doubt that Bones will ever be on my must-see schedule.

I used to watch the show every week, and then just sort of... stopped. Typical TV viewer, I know. But after seeing the FOX preview where Bones takes a knife and stabs the dummy, I want to see it again.

It's harder to care about these characters for some reason, than Buffy or other shows that are more immediately accessible, but perhaps putting my back into it and really paying attention during Season 2 will help. I like that David said he works with an acting coach, which he means he doesn't take the work that goes into this for granted.

The one thing that I will give Bones is that, for a procedural at least, the characters are relatively interesting and a lot more three dimensional and developed than I have ever seen from series like Law and Order.

I think you have stated why I like watching the show, when I remember it is on. (Versus Firefly/Angel/Buffy, where I had to watch it no matter what.) This show has the low attention span/"fold the laundy" qualitites of a procedural, but makes it more interesting by letting the characters act like people, instead of puppets to the plot.

Hey guys, horribly self-promoting, but hope you all check out the IGN piece. My chat with David and Emily was a lot of fun to do, and I hope to read!

Well, had to be a fan come up with the matter about singing "Mandy". Although the conversation pretty much naturally coursed to that road.
Great job Eric G.

IGN interview is great. Sounds like David is having a really good time.

I watch the show on a semi-regular basis. Honestly, whenever I remember it. It's not my kind of show, but its okay, my son likes it and there have been a couple of really good episodes. The one about the comic book writer really made me cry like a baby.

My favorite characters are actually Zack and Angela.

Good job, Eric G! I liked your interview the most of these 3 because the two actors were so relaxed with you, and you were able to ask them great questions because of your knowledge of the show and of their past work *cougheverybodywangchungtonightcough*! :-)

The people who have spoiler threads blocked won't get the news that Bones premiered tonight? Also, "Bones Premiere" wasn't in the headline. :/

Ordinarily I look unkindly upon men who are extravagantly better looking than me, but I have to type that David Boreanaz's performance in Bones has impressed me even more than Angel. Just watched the Bones season premiere, having watched the first season as it aired, and it confirmed for me that as an actor he's got believability, charm, great comic timing, great reactions. He's thoroughly involving and he brings you into the scene. He can do the happy, and he can do the sad.

Hate. Him.

But that's my prob, not his.

Fun interview, just as is David. I haven't missed a single episode of "Bones". I'd agree it stumbled a bit in the early episodes, but once it gained its footing it became my favorite show to watch. Tonight's episode had an edgier feel to it, plus the camera work added to the tone of the story. Again, I was impressed not only with David's acting, but the charm and energy he brings to a scene. The great chemistry and talent of the cast, the witty dialogue and good writing, and the fact that it is character driven, as opposed to the usual procedural places "Bones" on my must watch list. BTW Pointy, perfectly said.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I'll be putting up a Charisma Carpenter interview tomorrow night I think you'll find of interest too.

Eric G, besides the great content in your piece, I'd like to compliment you on your clean, clear writing style. Also, could I put up Charisma the night after tomorrow? She can have her own bedroom and everything.

He's thoroughly involving and he brings you into the scene. He can do the happy, and he can do the sad.

I agree; DB was terrific, so many good 'small' moments. A natural, charming leading man. I've never watched before, but plan to keep up with this.

Cool also to see the actress who played the teacher in River's dream in 'Serenity'.

the Bones season premiere was excellent! Tamara Taylor is a great addition to the cast... it's nice to see more Whedon alumns involved with this fine show.

Have to yet to watch the premiere, what I might do as soon as I get home from work.

Eric G when you put up the interview, you can send the tip to the whedonesque admins or mods, so they can post the link here, and you won't be infriging any posting your own work rules we have here.

Too bad some people didn't get to hear about the premiere since they combined an interview with the premiere news and put the INTERVIEW in the title as if that were more important. To make matters worse they put a spoiler tag on it, which means the premiere news (which isn't a spoiler) is invisible to some people who read whedonesque.

cityof, I'm not sure who the "they" to whom you keep referring are. If you're taking issue with the way the link was posted here, feel free to send an e-mail to the admins. Thanks. I will just note that the Bones premiere date had been mentioned in at least one other thread here, so it was not exactly a huge secret.
