It should be said, these things aren't handmade. It's not like a vast amount of time goes into running the program or filter or whatever that makes pictures into ASCII.

That's what I thought when I looked at them. It wouldn't be mind-bogglingly difficult to just make a photoshop filter or even a standalone program that could do that.

Agreed. Kind of sad, really. A decade or more ago there were some vastly talented ASCII artists out there that acutally did the stuff by hand. *Sigh* It was one of those things I was never able to master ... still wish I could though.

Do you guys remember the ASCII boom in '93 too? What happened? I think they were exhibitioning some of the ASCII portraits in the Louvre...

Seriously though, this is very impressive. I only took a quick look, but I also saw Charisma Carpenter, Kristy Swanson (from the original movie) and Sean Maher.

ETA: And Summer and Morena and Gina and Chiwetel--which makes all key players in "Serenity." (Some Browncoats involved, no?) Also, Michelle Trachtenberg, Emma Caulfield, Marc Blucas, and Elisabeth Rohm. I THINK that's everyone who hasn't been mentioned, but I could have missed someone....

A decade or so ago? We used to do this in the 70s when we still used punch cards and card readers - wow - how sad was that!
